If your child shows an interest in becoming an actor, be it in a TV series or movies, s/he should be well educated regarding the TV casting process.  Having sound knowledge about the entertainment industry is of great value to your child if s/he wants to be the next big thing.  Breaking into show business is probably one of the most challenging things your child can ever attempt due to the fact that millions of other children are also trying to live their dreams of having a successful acting career.

Two types of casting on every TV Casting Process

It is typical of the TV casting process to have two types of casting on each project, namely the principal casting director and a background casting director.  While the principal casting director is responsible for selecting the various speaking roles during the TV casting process, the background casting director has the responsibility of selecting all the extras that have a none-speaking role.  The TV casting process is quite standard across all genres, be it TV, film, or commercial productions.  When the actors are to be selected, the producer and principal casting director usually have a meeting where the breakdown of the characters is discussed.  After the breakdown is done, a list is compiled and sent through to the kids casting agencies (Kids On Camera) which the production company makes use of.
